(every 4th weekend of January), Iloilo City. Spectacle characterized by
frenetic stomping of feet and hypnotic drumbeating. It is a colorful whirl
of thousands of people dressed in unique costumes dancing and chanting
all day and night.
Iloilo-Guimaras Paraw Regatta (2nd Sunday of March), Iloilo Strait. A race among swift and colorful native outriggers in the strait between Iloilo City and Guimaras Island. Fireworks Display and Contest (every 3rd Sunday of January), Arevalo, Iloilo City. held in Arevalo, Iloilo City. Highlights of this District Fiesta of Arevalo are the multicolor fireworks. The skyline becomes a celebration with the dazzling display of sparkles and blazing lights. Feast Of Our Lady Of Candles (every Feb. 2), Jaro, Iloilo City. biggest and most opulent religious pageantry in Western Visayas with agro-industrial exhibits, garden shows, carnivals, and grand cock derbies, among others, that make Jaro fiesta the symbol of Iloilo's affluence and love for great celebrations. The Blessing of Candles and yearly procession of patroness, the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria is followed by the Fiesta Queen and her court. Santacruzan Festival (April 24-May 31), Sta. Cruz, Arevalo, Iloilo City. Features Mayflower festival, grand processions and a contest of massive arches. Pasungay (3rd Saturday of January), San Joaquin, Iloilo. A festival of Bulls held on the hillsides of San Joaquin. Prized bulls fight amidst the cheering of the spectators. Carabao-Carroza Race (every May), Pavia, Iloilo. A holiday when the Carabao is made the "king" for a day. It features a race among carabaos each pulling a bamboo carrosa on a four hundred meter course. Hinugyaw (every last Sunday of January), Calinog, Iloilo. Festival similar to Ati-atihan of Kalibo and Iloilo City's Dinagyang. Paghukom (every Good Friday), Calinog, Iloilo. Lenten presentation depicting the judgment, crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Molo District Fiesta (July 26), Molo, Iloilo City. This is the Molo district fiesta in honor of St. Anne. Cry of Sta. Barbara (November 17), Sta. Barbara, Iloilo. Celebrated in commemoration of the first cry of revolution against Spain in Iloilo. The event opened with the grand parade with the participants dressed in Spanish costumes. Other activities include games and cultural presentations. Mandurriao District Fiesta (November 26), Mandurriao, Iloilo City. This is the district fiesta of Mandurriao celebrated with a mass procession and carnival. Santacruzan (May 1-31) Sta. Cruz, Arevalo, Iloilo City. Features the Flores de Mayo, four grand processions and a contest of massive arches. Pagtaltal in Barotac Viejo (Good Friday - March) Barotac Viejo, Iloilo. A yearly depiction of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. La Paz District Fiesta (May 24), La Paz, Iloilo City. This is the district fiesta of La Paz in honor of Nuestra Señora de La Paz de Bien Viaje. Ilonggo Lantern Festival (December 1-31), Iloilo City. A festival contest of giant lanterns made of native materials. The event is sponsored by Marymart Mall, Department of Tourism, DYOK and DYMB. Ilonggo Music Festival (December), Iloilo City. This annual musical extravaganza bring out the best of Ilonggo music and musical talent. The Ilonggo music speak of their culture, history, passion and love. Christmas Light Festival (December), Pototan, Iloilo. A kaleidoscope of multicolored lights in a 6 ha. plaza with dancing fountain and food festival. Ilonggo Festival (October), SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City. A trade fair that showcases the best products of Iloilo. |
