About Antique 

Described as buenavista, meaning beautiful view; was originally called Hantic, from the name of a large ant which abound the place. Has 18 towns with San Jose as the capital. Bounded on the northwest by Aklan, on the east by Capiz and on the southwest by Iloilo. Lies between the China Sea to the west and high mountains; has an approximate land area of 2,522.0 sq. km. Has dry & wet climate with August as the rainiest month. Estimated population is 424,002. Kinaray-a & Hiligaynon are the two major dialects in Antique, but locals are also proficient in Tagalog & English. 

The province is basically agricultural with rice and sugarcane as the principal products, while fishing is the second largest industry. 
 

How to get there 

Antique is accessible from major cities of the country through Iloilo City from where buses leave for San Jose, the province's capital town. Travel time is approximately 2 hours.
